Don Nguyen is a graduate of California State University at Fullerton, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in Communications with an emphasis in Photography. He recently finished a stint at XKOrangeCounty.com, where he worked for over 2 years shooting, captioning, archiving, editing, filing, marketing and following leads on soccer teams and their players.
Don is a determined photographer, seeking out local newsworthy content through continual surveying and assessing of his surroundings in search of the best photo. Don is an amiable person with a genuine interest in the stories of the people and events he interacts with, who is inspired by investigative journalism and story-telling. He considers Mark Boster, L.A. Times photographer, Marc Martin, L.A. Times photo editor and Bill Thompson of Pencil Box Studios mentors who have taught him to work hard, be accurate and use his creativity to tell the stories.
Among his accolades, Don was awarded “Best Photographer 2008” by The Daily Titan at Cal State Fullerton. Noteworthy projects include shooting stills for Little Saigon TV, over 2 years of experience in a newsroom environment, and raising page views from 25,000 a month to over 100,000 within a 3 month period of shooting and marketing.
